Are Microplastics in Your Body Harmful?

Microplastics have been found in human samples — but does detection mean they are harming your health?

This episode explores microplastic exposure, human biomonitoring, and health risk. It looks at how microplastics may enter the body, what researchers can currently measure, and why detecting particles in blood or tissue does not automatically tell us what they mean for an individual person.

It also examines the gap between identifying a possible health concern and being able to quantify personal risk, along with why microplastic testing can offer a number without necessarily offering certainty.

The goal is a more proportionate way to interpret a fast-moving area of research: taking detection seriously without turning uncertainty into evidence of harm.
